April Lockhart
April Lockhart is a born July 4 in 1995. As a seventh-grade student, she started taking piano and guitar lessons. It was this that ignited her love for music writing. April Lockhart wrote her first song"Different" when she was twelve years old. When she was 14 April spent a lot of time to making song lyrics and working on the music she was playing. Soon after, April started traveling with her father as well as write her songs at home in NY or LA. April was also able to add other themes in the song "Take My Hand" to help her friends who dealt with concerns like peer pressure disabilities, and even teens who committed suicide. Lockhart is a lifestyle and beauty influencer who has a growing following. She is a partner with the popular brand Ilia in partnership, as well as being an expert in the field of lifestyle. Her birth was without a left hand. It's part of her story, but it's hardly her whole story. Because of this, her Instagram account doesn't shy away from her disability, but it's not focused on her disability neither. What's the message? The message? That we are all multifaceted, and that our identities and physical self aren't as they seem. Lockhart, via video message sent from her Nashville home, states that I do not want that to be a part of me. I'm much more than my physical self. My everyday life isn't directly affected by disability. I lead a normal daily life, and come up with my own solutions to issues. It's also a part of me, and I believe that it is something to be talked about. Self-acceptance is a lifelong marathon but Lockhart truly inspires me for this aspect. She admits that she has gone through phases of insecurity with her body and feeling uneasy wearing certain clothing styles that exposed her arms. She now wears any outfit she wishes and shares pictures on her Facebook page with pride. She says that self-love is a process. I'm not sure when you'll reach the final stage. But, this isn't common for anyone with doubts. It's essential to have those around you who are aware of and appreciate your situation. They'll be the ones who ask your: What are you think about?
